Published by manager at 5:50 am under medical transcription career

So, someone you know is a medical transcriptionist, and now you want to be one? Are you sure you won’t get strayed tomorrow when you find someone else doing well in another profession? Even when you find medical transcription enticing, you must find out if you are suited to the profession and vice-versa.

Just because you can handle medical transcription for a month does not mean you can handle it for, say ten years. It is important you find out if you have the aptitude for it.

Apart from the basics like good hearing skills, computer proficiency, command over English grammar, and analytical skills, you should be ready and willing to deal with deadlines, deliver quality work consistently, learn and research independently, and motivate yourself from time to time.

Once you have made sure you will do well as a medical transcriptionist, enroll yourself into a good medical transcription course. Compare different courses thoroughly before joining one. Make sure the completion of your course is followed by placement assistance. Don’t shirk away online courses. An online course may work just fine for you if you are a self-paced, disciplined learner.

Once you have completed the course, don’t just rely on your institute’s placement. Make your own efforts to find a good job. Post your resume on job sites and send it to various medical transcription companies. Check out the jobs in newspaper classifieds and yellow pages. Make it a point to visit the local hospitals and clinics for opportunities.

Wish you all the luck for your new career!
