You have heard it several times, from us and others, that entering the medical transcription profession is easy. Let’s find out why the entry is considered easy.

  • It requires no qualification. You don’t need to possess any formal education or qualification to enter the profession. What a medical transcriptionist needs are an excellent command over English and analytical abilities.
  • It needs no experience. Not having any working experience of any kind does not become a deterrent to a career in medical transcription. You can enter the profession any time, regardless of any professional experience.
  • It has no age bar. The medical transcription profession accepts people of any age. So, an 18-year old boy can be seen being peers with his 60-year old granny.
  • It lets you work from anywhere in the world. The profession offers the flexibility of working anywhere from the world. You do not need to lose heart if there is no office in your city; you can work from home.

With the entry being easy, medical transcription-aspirants often think that the job too is easy.  The truth is that the profession is extremely demanding and challenging. With stringent deadlines and high standards of quality, a medical transcriptionist is always on his/her toes. Any careless mistake on his/her part can impact the safety of patients. Given the responsible nature of the job, no medical transcriptionist can afford to take it lightly. If you think that surviving in the profession is not a big deal given the effortless entry, you are in for a shock. Make sure you are prepared for the challenges before you make the decision of joining the medical transcription industry.
