Making Home-Based Medical Transcription Credible

Published by manager at 6:15 am under work at home

When you work from home, you need to have your hands full of work all the time. And how will you ensure that you keep getting home-based medical transcription work regularly? By establishing credibility in your work. And how do you do that? Ensure high productivity and high quality. And ensure the security and confidentiality of all the data that passes through your hands. Here are some ways to build your credibility.

Create a home office that helps you be highly productive. It is important to plan your work if you want to deliver good work. Fix up the number of work hours you will work everyday. And stick to the plan. Avoid distractions at all costs during work hours. Don’t prioritize domestic responsibilities when your work is pending.

Take measures to ensure conformation to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines. You are no good if you are not HIPAA-compliant.

It is important you meet all deadlines irrespective of the work pressure. Say ‘no’ to more work if you already have too much on your plate. Remember, you cannot compromise on the quality of your work. You have to meet all medical transcription quality goals.

You will come across several instances of incomprehensible or incomplete recordings. Follow up properly. And flag responsibly. Inappropriate flagging is one of the biggest factors that ruin your goodwill.

Treat your client’s work with utmost sincerity. The medical records you create are of real people. If you take your work casually, you may end up impacting the safety of some patient somewhere. Be sincere and you will do well in medical transcription.
